Climbing serves as a bonding opportunity and a way to create community. Emil aspires to teach the younger generation proper safety and ethics, and hopes this knowledge will spread.

Governor Jim Martin proclaimed June as Rivers Month in North Carolina, and the fourth annual celebration of the state’s freshwater rivers and streams. Over fifty river-related events were sponsored by local river groups, parks and recreation offices, and outing clubs throughout the state. Activities included white-water rafting and canoeing, river cleanups, a concert series, festivals, and canoe trips.

The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission has announced a new program in which they will provide more access for disabled sportsmen, allowing them to become more of a part of outdoor recreation. This program includes incentives such as new kayak launches, cut-out railings, customized deer blinds, and more.
