Abstract:
Marine debris has a worldwide impact on wildlife, economics, the environment, aesthetics, and public health. In May of 1994, individuals from around the globe met in Miami to discuss this growing problem and to recommend possible solutions.

Abstract:
The American Cyanamid Company of Savannah, Georgia has come under fire for their pollutant dumping into the Savannah River. However, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia officials have joined in an opposition to the company’s request for extending their actions, citing endangering the Gulf Stream which would have an effect on ocean waters along each of these states’ coasts.

The National Wildlife Federation as recently won three important cases concerning aspects of ocean dumping and dredge spoil. Court decisions have led to revised nation-wide ocean dumping criteria and justifications for permitting.
