Abstract:
Although East Carolina University does not offer a major in journalism, many graduates have had successful careers in newspapers and television news. Four have won journalism's highest honor -- the Pulitzer Prize -- twelve times. They are Sandra Mims Rowe (6); Dan Neil (1); Rick Atkinson (3); and Margaret O'Conner (2).

Abstract:
Tal Henry was the leader of the North Carolinians, a big band group. The band was at the heights of the country's popular music world during 1921 through 1936, making records and appearing in two short musical films for Warner Brothers. The band disbanded in 1936, and Henry moved to Greensboro, where he died in 1967 at age 68.
