Abstract:
Edwards discusses the 100,000-acre Pisgah Game Preserve, which lies mostly in Transylvania County. The terrain ranges from broad, flat valleys to rugged peaks of 5,700 feet. The preserve, which is administered cooperatively by the state and federal governments, is a mecca for hikers, nature lovers, and sightseers. A federal highway gives access to all areas of the preserve. Numerous trails, public campgrounds, and picnic areas are available for use. Almost 400,000 people visit each year.
