The Triangle is home to thousands of domestic workers from diverse backgrounds and ethnicities. These workers are now organizing in a growing movement to expose abuses and fighting for change.
Headlines about queer youth often highlight stories of bullying and teen suicide. However, there are positive stories of teens coming out earlier and creating Gay-Straight Alliances (GSAs) and a sense of community pride amongst their allies. Included in this piece are testimonials from nine North Carolinian teenagers.
Last May, hearings began concerning a sexual assault case at between two UNC students. Landen Gambill brought charges against her ex-boyfriend to the UNC Honor System after he physically assaulted her. The article reviews not only this case but other sexual assault cases brought before the UNC Honor Courts and an outline of their rulings and actions in such cases.
