- The Lowrie history : as acted in part by Henry Berry Lowrie, the great North Carolina bandit, with biographical sketches of his associates, being a complete history of the modern robber band in the county of Robeson, and state of North Carolina, by Mrs. Mary C. Norment. History of the Lowry outlaws in Robeson County, N.C. Includes a genealogy of the Lowry family beginning with James Lowry who settled in what is now Robeson County in 1769. Continues with descriptions of members of the Lowry gang and locations close to where they lived, particularly "Scuffletown," an area of Robeson County settled by free Black and Indian people. Most of the book consists of accounts of crimes committed by the Lowry gang and law enforcement and civilian actions against the gang. The history concludes with an appendix "written by a gentleman more conversant with current events than the authoress" giving their thoughts on why the Lowry gang was able to operate for ten years before the last members were killed or captured. Label affixed to front cover: "G.C. Graves, Druggist & apothecary, Carthage, N.C."
