Dear Bob:

This is to officially invite you to serve as moderator of a
panel on the program of the Annual Managers, Directors and
Promoters Conference of the Institute of Outdoor Drama. The
Conference is scheduled for October 5, 6, and 7, 1990, and
will be held in Cherokee, NC, home of UNTO THESE HILLS
outdoor drama.

As you know, this Conference is the only national gathering
of professionals in the field of outdoor historical drama and
is attended by company representatives from across the
country. It is an important meeting and one which I know
will greatly benefit from your participation.

The panel you will chair is tentatively entitled "Open Forum:
The Planning and Development of an Outdoor Historical Drama."
It is scheduled for Saturday, October 6, from 1:30pm until
3:Q0am I have written to the following individuals asking
if they will serve with you as members:

Mr. Don Baker, Director 703-463-7088
Lime Kiln Arts, Inc.

Box 663

Lexington, VA 24450

Mr. Billy Edd Wheeler 704-686-3438
Composer/Playwright

P.O. Box 7

Swannanoa, NC 28778

Mr. Carl T. Hayden, President 607-732-2152
Mark Twain Arts Council, Inc.

P.O. Box 265

Elmira, NY 14902

Ms. Melanie Patterson 816-532-0803
General Manager

THE LIFE AND TIMES OF JESSE JAMES

Route 2, Box 120

Smithville, MO 64089

As soon as I get a response from those folks, I will let you
know and you can take over the organization and planning of
the panel at that point.

The idea behind this panel is to offer advice and respond to
questions from those individuals who are in the process of
developing new outdoor dramas. I think it would be best if
each panel member briefly address a specific area of the
development process, perhaps provide some background on his
or her own involvement with a specific drama, and then turn
the meeting over to questions and answers. Questions and
answers should be the bulk of the session.

Areas your panel members might address include:

Community Relations

Capital Development

Site Requirements

Organization of the Association
Story Identification/Playwrighting

Bob, because we°ve only recently determined the site for the
Conference, we°re now on the fast track to nail down all
elements of the meeting. That being the case, I am
considering your commitment to me over the telephone this
morning to be firm and am counting on you. We go to press

~ with the program very soon now.

I°m delighted you can chair this very important program
during the Conference and I know you will do your usual
excellent job with it. You should receive a Conference
brochure, including pre-registration form, in early
September. In the meantime, if you have any questions,
please give me a call.

Thanks again.

Scott J. Parker
