The deputy on the far right is young Ralph L. Tyson who later became sheriff. He told me that this was the very first uniforms issued to Pitt County deputies. Note that no deputy is equipped with leathergear for their handgun. It had been ordered, but had not arrived. The deputy standing beside of Ralph Tyson is longtime deputy D. C. Martin.
