Description
Letter from Matthew W. Ransom to his "own precious Pattie" discussing his recent movements with his regiment. He writes that he has just returned from "pursuing the enemy nearly to New Bern" and that "Col. Faison had acted very, very badly" after a particular battle. He may be referring to The Second Battle of Gum Swamp, which occurred on the 22 of May 1863.
