- Description
- USS Hull (DD-350) color print on paper mounted on cardboard. DD-350 was actually the third navy ship to bear the name "Hull". She received 10 battle stars for World War II service; and was one of three destroyers sunk by heavy seas encountered in Halsey's Typhoon in December of 1944. Handwritten notes on reverse of print: Commander Ralph S. Wentworth, U.S.N., commanding. Copy of original painting by John (Jack) A. Wertis for Alex J. Wertis, chief yeoman (PA), U.S. Navy, USS Hull (DD-350). Understand lost, China Sea—typhoon, WWII. Date approximated.
