- Letter home to his parents from John Clayton Taylor, written while serving aboard USS Plattsburg. Taylor writes from Cowes, Isle of Wight, after having just returned from Paris, France. He briefly describes his visit to Paris and Château-Thierry. Taylor joined the U.S. Navy in 1917 with the rank of assistant surgeon, where he served aboard USS Plattsburg, a hospital ship that made eleven trips from Europe to the United States.
