This is the Powell and Lealand student microscope in the form designed by Cornelius Varley with the lever operated stage. It includes the very unusual sliding tube fine adjustment and a bayonet lock for the micrometer eyepiece. The tailpiece and mirror are not original and the lever knob is missing.
