- Color lithograph marriage certificate of Allen Halstead Taft, Sr. and Elizabeth Adelaide Hoover dated November 21, 1866. The ceremony was performed at her father's home by Rev. W. P. Moore of Washington (N.C.) and witnessed by G. E. Taft & P. H. Ellison. The Taft and Hoover families were well-established in Pitt County, North Carolina.
