- Advertisement for Allen's Root Beer Extract depicting a finely dressed couple standing near a tree and fence. She is holding her dress with her left hand and holding onto his hand with her right hand. The background is silver. The reverse of the card has the heading: "Health is Better than Wealth." Allen's Root Beer Extract is made from "Dandelion, Ginger, Pipsissewa, Hops, Sassafras, Spikenard (Life of Man), Black Birch, &c." It is good for the kidneys and liver, and aids appetite and digestion. The price is 25 cents per bottle and makes six gallons of beer. Prepared by C.E. Carter, Pharmacist, Lowell, Mass.
