Mid-nineteenth century, brass monocular microscope kit, unsigned; microscope screws into the top of its fitted, mahogany case which serves as the microscope base. Inside case is a paper distributor tag: "C.T. AMSLER/ 224 CHESTNUT ST./PHILADELPHIA.” Case contains 8 prepared naturalist slides (subjects include feather, flea, and plant stem), 4 empty, glass slides, 1 prepared slide containing a brownish specimen , possibly joint fluid, 3 brass objectives (sizes 1, 2, and 3), brass tweezers, a round droplet slide, and a "Bulls eye" condenser that attached to the body tube of the microscope by a piece of metal that is no longer with the set. more...
