Description: 7 photographs of a U.S. Army Steam Tug. Writing on the photos reads "Marietta Mfg. Co., Pt. Pleasant, W.VA, Cont. #W-2789-tc-252, Hull #504, [varying dates and tc #]." The Marietta Manufacturing Company was formed in 1892 in Marietta, Ohio; it was one of the major inland shipyards in the country. After officially moving to Point Pleasant under a West Virginia charter in 1915, the company ceased operation in February 1970. During World War II, Marietta constructed ships for the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army and the Defense Plant Corporation.
