Identifier: 0730-s3-b4   (https://digital.lib.ecu.edu/56611)
Description: Volume 1 of a larger videocassette series entitled Growing up African-American in Pitt County. The public forum recorded in volume 1 features older African Americans chaired by Mary L. Perkins-Williams discussing their childhoods and what they remember about what has made them into the people they are today. Topics include politics, civil rights, rearing children, and what would make for a better community. People attending the forum were Mildred Council, Councilwoman for the state of North Carolina, Dr. Gay Wilentz, Dr. David Dennard, and some of the people interviewed on videocassettes v. 2-7. This project was completed in 1994 by Perkins-Williams and Mary Boccaccio.
