Description: Handwritten minutes from the East Carolina Teachers Training School (ECTTS) Student Government Association meetings dated January 9, 1912 to March 10, 1914. The minutes begin with the founding and purpose of the formation of the Student Government Association in 1912. From there, the minutes describe life and relevant student concerns at the college. These include the process for disciplining students, the encouragement of athletics, visitation policies, theft in dorms, rules for leisure activities, the usefulness of the library, the role a student's "attitude" should play in earning a diploma, and limiting involvement in extracurriculars, among other issues. ECTTS's first president, Robert Herring Wright served as the SGA's president and his influence on the organization's decisions are noted. Also noted are the names of the student members of the association. ECTTS was founded in 1907 to train teachers and during the period of 1912-1914 only female students lived on campus.
