Student Microscope (Iron Microscope)
Title: Student Microscope (Iron Microscope)
Identifier: LL02.48.02.20   (https://digital.lib.ecu.edu/22093)
Description: Hugh Powell was one of three great early achromatic microscope makers in England. He formed a partnership with his brother-in-law, Peter Lealand, in 1842. This is the basic configuration of their student microscope. It also came with a Varley stage, spring loaded nose fine adjustment and a brass frame. This microscope has two eyepieces, one for measuring, two objectives and a camera lucida. The rack and pinion and the substage configuration are similar to earlier microscopes like E17.
