  • Description

    The collection consists primarily of letters (July 22, 1918 - Mar. 19, 1919) written to Raby who served in Morrison, Va.; Lakedown Salisbury, England; and New York City. Comments concern the purchase of war bonds; inflated cost of shoes, clothing, groceries and utilities; and government restrictions on Sunday automobile driving. Of significance is a discussion of a Spanish influenza epidemic in Rocky Mount and Tarboro. Also mentioned is discussion of automobile prices and the availability of rides.
