  • Description

The collection contains primarily minutes of Post meetings which consist of attendance records, membership drives, and membership records. Of interest is a letter from the Department Adjutant to Post Adjutants, Commanders, and Department Officers expressing a desire to actively recruit Negro members.

A business report (August 26, 1943) discusses a bill before Congress that would socialize medical services throughout the country by increasing the social security tax paid on wages. The Post felt the bill would be detrimental to the welfare of the country at the time. Also, the National Youth Administration is mentioned; it is suggested that their equipment be turned over to the Pitt County schools.

Miscellaneous items include financial records, lists of Pitt County men wounded and killed in World War I and II, and reports of the Pitt County Venereal Disease clinic (1944).
