  • Description

    The correspondence in this collection consists of personal letters from L. H. Smith to his brother (1853) and to his daughter (1855). A Common School Teacher's Certificate issued to L. H. Smith for Edgecombe County (1854) and a North Carolina Public School Register for Duplin County Schools (1882-1896) are also included in the collection. The Public School Register contains teachers' names, salaries, textbooks used, pupil attendance, and grading procedure.
