The collection includes scans of correspondence, biographical sketches, newspaper clippings, published articles, and photographs which document her life and work before, during, and after entering religious life. Dillard (1965-1983 [Bulk: 1981-1983]) documenting the life and career of the Roanoke, Virginia-born American poet, author, critic, translator, who taught creative writing at Hollins College, Virginia, 1964- and edited The Hollins Critic literary journal, 1996-; consisting of loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection volumes by Dillard entitled The Book of Changes (1974), The Day I Stopped Dreaming About Barbara Steele (1965), and The First Man on the Sun (1981, 1983), including advertising cards, publicity portraits, and a biographical sketch of Dillard by George Garrett (1929-2008); also Stuart Wright's correspondence with Annie [Meta Ann Doak] Dillard (1945-), to whom Dillard was married 1964-1975, and who was also a well-known poet, novelist and educator; and a typescript of The Affluent Beatnik (ca. 1966), by Annie Dillard.

This collection consists of three diaries (1915-1917) written by John Ambrose Chalk documenting daily weather, agricultural activities, and interesting social events in Chowan County, North Carolina. He and his family were living on Mulberry Hill Farm while he managed the farm for Mr. Henry Wood of Edenton, N.C. Also included are transcriptions of the diaries provided by the donor along with family information, and indices to places mentioned and interesting events.

This collection contains two artifacts excavated at the Cape Creek site (Croatan), Buxton, Dare County, North Carolina, in 1998 during the Croatan Archaeological Project, East Carolina University Professor Emeritus David Sutton Phelps, Director. The artifacts are a signet ring engraved with a "lion passant," prancing lion, crest (Specimen Acc. No. 1283-1297) with dimensions: 0.75" (l) x 0.5" (w) x 0.25" (d) and weight: 0.25 oz.; and a musket firing lock (Specimen Acc. No. 1283-1976). Research results indicate they are probably of early 17th century origin, but late 16th century origin can't be definitively ruled out.
Frank H. Price, Jr., a graduate in the USNA Class of 1941, had a naval career including service in World War II through postwar work with developing conventional warheads for Navy guided missiles and commanding several ships and a Destroyer Division, culminating in promotion to vice admiral in 1972 and retirement in 1975. His papers cover his entire naval career and include correspondence, orders, a memoir, clippings, photographs, programs, publications and a photograph album.

The papers contain material related to the life of Alison Hearne Atkins. A graduate of East Carolina University, Ms. Atkins earned a bachelor's degree in music education in 1952 and a master's degree in vocal performanace in 1961. She taught voice at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas for 28 years and later taught voice at a private studio. Ms. Atkins performed operatic works and performed and accompanied Scottish folk and art songs at Grandfather Mountain Highland Games in Linville, North Carolina for over 40 years. Included are notebooks containing teaching notes, programs, and clippings related to her career; clippings related to her former students; cards; letters; and documents relative to her being chosen as one of East Carolina University's 100 Incredible Women in 2007. The papers also include compact discs, an audiocassette, and a 5" reel to reel tape.
This collection (1884, 1908-2005) includes the papers of Helen Keel Peel (who died in 2005 at the age of 88) and her husband James Woolard Peel (who died in 1986), of Everetts in Martin County, North Carolina. Included in the collection are a diary (1934-1937); photographs; typescripts related to Helen Peel's historical research about Everetts and Martin County; correspondence, scrapbook, and autograph books related to her public school years and her 1933-1934 time at Louisburg College; scrapbooks covering the time span of ca. 1956-1994; and Bible (1836) records, especially births, for the years 1808-1851 for members of the Peel, Woolard, Ward, Martin and Barnhill families of Martin County. Also included are report cards, transcripts, and correspondence related to James Peel's public schooling and time (1931-1935) at N.C. State University; U.S. Army service-related materials for his time in the Reserves (1936) and World War II (1942-1945); memorabilia related to his membership in the Order of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite; Martin County deeds and plats (1884-1972); account books (1908-1944); and remodeling plans (2000-2005) by Dr. Jesse R. Peel for his parents' house. deeds for various tracts of land in Everetts and elsewhere in Martin County, N.C., and papers (plat maps, correspondence, financial papers) that document involvement with Timberlands Unlimited, Inc., of Windsor, N.C.

Creech's 23-year tenure as Area Director of the Pitt County Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Center in Greenville, North Carolina.
