On January 14, 2009, Dale Sauter (Grant Project Director) and Chris Oakley (Grant Historian) interviewed David J. Whichard II and Stuart Savage. Both Whichard and Savage have been at the Daily Reflector for most of their lives. Whichard's grandfather and his grandfather's brother founded the newspaper in the late 1800s. Savage retired in March 2009 with fifty years at the newspaper. They have both been involved in the newspaper in many capacities, including Whichard as one time publisher, and Savage as photographer. What makes this interview so special are the reflections of both Whichard and Savage about their experiences at the newspaper and in the Greenville area. Obviously, many changes have occurred since the start of the careers and the present day. These changes include both the physical processes, as well as the whole nature of the newspaper business. During this time there have also been dramatic and sweeping social transformations in Greenville that also mirror changes that occurred on a state and national level. Correspondence (1910-1911, 1913-1914) between Belva Agnes Ross and her parents William Henry Ross and Lida Baynor Little Ross and her brother Wilbur "Buddy" Ross while she is attending East Carolina Teachers Training School in Greenville, North Carolina. Wilbur Ross also started attending ECTTS with his sister in October 1910, but at some point he left to attend Guilford College. The Rosses were from Edward community about three miles east of Aurora in Beaufort County, North Carolina. Belva had to withdraw from school in January 1911 because she contracted the measles, but she returned to school at least by October 1913. Also included are abstracts of the correspondence created by Belva Ross's grandson Roy A. Archbell, Jr.

Papers (1913 – 1953, and undated) of physician Charles E. Flowers, Sr. (1889-1962). The papers consist mainly of World War I correspondence to and from Charles E. Flowers (1917-1919). Some were written while he was in the 29th Division, 7th Army Corps, and American Expeditionary Forces. The papers also contain photographs and Flowers' medical school yearbook (1913-1917, 1940-1953).

Papers (1918-2005) relating to Greenville and Enfield, North Carolina boy scout leader including his World War I Diary recounting his service in the 14th Company, 4th Training Battalion, Depot Brigade and the 218th Ambulance Company in the American Expeditionary Force in France, 1918-1919, camp schedule, list of letters received and answered, addresses of French women, debts, English - French phrase, movements, places visited, and observations on daily military activities; memorials after his death; biographical sketches and clippings; letters and clippings describing him; and photographic prints of him in his World War I uniform. The collection includes correspondence and some photographic material documenting the service of Richard Lewis Kinney (1927-2015) of Lexington, North Carolina in the United States Army in occupied Japan at the end of World War II. The collection provides a glimpse of an American soldier's point of view and experience serving overseas during the post-war occupation of Japan.

This collection (1823-1999) contains the papers of Robert "Bob" Boyd Robinson III. Robinson, born in 1948 in Halifax County, N.C., was a member of various groups including the Sons of the Revolution in the State of North Carolina. His papers include materials related to various families of Northeastern North Carolina and Southeastern Virginia.

Willard and Daisy Rowe Papers (1963-2006) contain newsletters,clippings, publications and a poster documenting the work of the Evangelical Baptist Mission in Franklin County, North Carolina, and in Guatemala.

Muster roll for a detachment of the 29th Regiment U. S. Colored Troops Detachment under the command of Capt. Wilson Camp, dated June 30 – August 31, 1865. The roll documents the names, ranks, enlistment data, and service records of the 17-man detachment consisting of soldiers from Illinois, Indiana, and Maryland.

Correspondence of Minnie Tapscott with public officials and newspaper editors, newspaper and magazine articles, legal documents, reports, maps and publications related to the development of the North Carolina Global Transpark (GTP) in Kinston, North Carolina, over the years 1992 to 2001.

Collection (1942-1945, 2006) of documents, maps, printed materials, etc., relating to his service as a Quartermaster 3d Class aboard the USS Ann Arundel (AP-76) during World War II, including autobiographical accounts of four voyages, and descriptions of its actions during the Normandy invasion of 6 June 1944.

Personal files (1975-2000) for active North Carolina Democratic Party member and advocate for women Betty Speir, including correspondence, reports, agendas, minutes and memos pertaining to the equal rights amendment, the governor's crime commission, and state and local democratic party politics.

Papers (1945-1950) including correspondence, military pamphlets with description of army forces, commentaries, letter of sympathy.

This collection contains genealogy material concerning the Tucker family of Pitt County, North Carolina, and correspondence (1983-1999), legal documents, maps and photographs related to the Tucker Family Cemetery in Greenville, Pitt County, North Carolina. Documented are attempts to keep up the cemetery, protect it from encroachment from neighboring Arlington Boulevard due to needs to widen the road, and from encroachment by neighbors.

Papers (1933-1973) of U. S. Marine Corps aviation officer (Major Gen.) who served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, and who retired as commander of the Cherry Point, NC Marine Air Station, including correspondence, reports, war diaries, citations, certificates, and military records.
