This collection contains the records of the Concord Primitive Baptist Church located near Creswell, N.C., including the 1808 deed, and three minute books covering the years 1810 through 1978. The meeting house still stands and is under the care of the Concord Primitive Baptist Church Preservation Society, Inc. The collection also includes a copy of the published minutes which were transcribed by the donor, Shirleyan B. Phelps, twenty-four copies of Annual Session Minutes (1914-1990) for the Kehukee Primitive Baptist Association (of which this church was a member),and a page of Bible records for the Ambrose family.
This collection consists of materials (1911-1991) related to Judge Walter L. Small of Elizabeth City, N.C., and his family, especially his sons Admiral Walter L. Small, Jr., Judge J. Herbert White Small, and Charles Buxton Small plus relatives in the White family. Included are photograph albums; scrapbooks relating to local, state, and national events and to WWII; a memory and fellowship book kept by Elizabeth Peele White while attending St. Mary's School (1911-1913); ledgers including one (1919-1937) kept by Elizabeth City dentist Dr. John Herbert White; and certificates.
Papers (1764-1910) including correspondence, land records, account sales, a photograph, agricultural reports, receipts and miscellaneous.
Collection (1799-1897, 1913) including correspondence, 1835-1897, 1913, and financial records, 1799-1894, of New Bern, NC merchant, whose store was used by Union troops, and who was appointed "Superintendent of Poor Whites" for Craven County, NC.
Collection (1816-1899) including correspondence, legal papers, military papers, etc. relating to William D. Holt and his cotton sales business, local policies, railroad construction, the Farmers Alliance, private debts, his service during the Civil War, and business records.
Jessamine Shumate (1902-1990), a native of Henry County, Virginia, was an artist, historian, and cartographer. She died in Greenville, North Carolina, where her daughters were living.
This collection consists of 48 deeds (1801-1907), legal documents and notes related to land ownership in Pitt County, North Carolina, in the area that became Ayden. The documents pertain mainly to the Harris, McGlohon/McLawhorn, and Cannon families, especially William Henry Harris, the founder of Ayden. Also included are a blueprint plat of Ayden (June 21, 1890) and copies of 2 clippings (1991-1992) about the founding of Ayden. Additional items which have been placed in the East Carolina University Archives are a 1915 yearbook for East Carolina Teachers Training School (now ECU), a 1915 folded card for the Junior-Senior Reception at ECTTS, and a calling card all belonging to ECTTS student Katherine (Kate or Katie) Eugenia Sawyer. This collection is donated by the family of John William Sawyer.
Papers (1905-1913, undated) consisting of correspondence, a letter copy book, photographs, picture post cards, brands of tobacco, etc. related to Halifax Co, North Carolina, native Quentin Gregory's work in China with the British-American Tobacco Company. Also included is a memoir written by his son Thomas Wynns Gregory in 2013 about life growing up and living as an adult in Halifax, N.C.
The Vertical File contains brochures, pamphlets, newsletters, and other printed ephemeral material pertaining to North Carolina people, organizations, places, history, and events. Files on a county, for example, typically include brochures / maps pertaining to natural or historic sites, cultural events, and local businesses.
The collection includes correspondence, minutes, programs, lists, dues information, journal reprints and articles, newsletters, receipts, clippings, reports, and photographs. Addition of January 2017 includes programs, newsletters, photographs, books, articles, clippings, deceased members files, Country Doctor Museum and East Carolina University alliance, and transcription project of the Country Doctor Museum oral histories.
Collection (1794-1951, 1971, undated) including correspondence, deeds, statements, promissory notes, will, inventories, legal papers; poems, clippings, photographs, etc. relating to the Banks and Stacey families.

Jarvis papers (ca. 1822 - 1919, undated) including family bible records, clippings, genealogical notes, photographs, cipher book, and a periodical relating to the Jarvis, Brooks, Monk, Parker, and Wallace families, Memorial Baptist Church (Greenville, NC), and the Monumental Bronze Company.
Papers (1854-1865) of Robert C. Caldwell, a private soldier from Cabarrus County, NC, who served in Company C., 10th Battalion, North Carolina Heavy Artillery during the Civil War.
553 pages original typescript of memoir, 147 written/printed letters, 588 pages edited typescript consisting of memoir and letters, a pamphlet, and five biographical books. Memoir relates to the life of Brigadier General George Willcox McIver (1857-1947)
