This collection contains a memoir (ca. 1872) about life in New Bern, N.C., from 1822 to 1872. It includes biographical and informational data concerning politicians, lawyers and other important New Bern figures, as well as descriptions of life in New Bern and historical incidents of the period. An appendix contains transcripts of letters from prominent people.

Included are Minute books, Membership Roll books, semi-annual reports, correspondence, financial papers, applications for membership, withdrawal and transfer cards, dismissal and suspension certificates, rosters, directories, photographs and publications that contain procedures for ranks and rituals. Two documents (1898, undated) relate to the Zeb Vance Lodge No. 65 of North Carolina.
The collection is comprised of papers from Dr. I. Henderson Lutterloh and his son Dr. I. Hayden Lutterloh. It includes correspondence, licenses and receipts from Lutterloh Clinic and Drugstore, medical informational booklets, and handwritten notes from Hayden's education at Jefferson Medical College. Also included is a book based on Hayden's recollections of medicine in Sanford beginning with his father.
