Karel B. Absolon Collection

The Karel B. Absolon Collection is comprised of Absolon family papers and Karel B. Absolon's research and collecting interest, particularly Theodor Billroth. The papers relating to Absolon's family span three generations and include Karel B. Absolon, Karel Absolon, Willibald Absolon, and Jaroslav Bakes (a cousin to Karel Absolon). Karel B. Absolon's primary research interest was Austrian abdominal surgeon Theodor Billroth (1829-1894). Absolon also collected items related to European, primarily men, in the science field. The collection includes correspondence, translations, prints, photographs, articles, ephemera, and original documents.

William L. Spoon Papers

Papers (1705-1928) of Alamance County, North Carolina, native William L. Spoon (1862-1942) consisting of correspondence, a diary, pamphlets, almanacs, maps, photos, reports on weather, tax receipts, and land records. Spoon was a surveyor who was supervisor of public roads in Alamance County and worked as an agent of the U.S. Department of Agriculture as well as a teacher, inventor, and traveling salesman.

[William De Witt] Snodgrass (1926-2009), a Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania-born American poet, literary critic, translator and educator at various universities, including the University of Delaware (1979-1994); consisting of typescripts of two works: Autobiographical Essays (1979) and From the "Death of Cock Robin" (1979); also a proof of his pamphlet Magda Goebbels (1983); loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection, including from his works entitled D. D. Byrde Callyng, Jennie Wrenn (1984), Heart's Needle (1959), In Radical Pursuit (1976), Six Minnesinger Songs (1983), and Spaulding Distinguished Lectures (1969); and a printed brochure entitled A Note from the Poet (undated) by Snodgrass.

C. J. [Chestley J.] Hyatt Papers

This collection (1966-2011) consists of papers, ephemera, and printed oversize materials related to Democratic and Republican party politics in North Carolina that document elections and Chester Julian (C.J.) Hyatt's involvement in politics. There is also material related to George C. Wallace's campaign for president in 1968, 1972, and 1976. Hyatt was state chairman for Wallace's run in 1976.
