Collection of two bound manuscript account books (1872-1892) of a physician practicing in Cameron and Carthage, Moore County, North Carolina, during the late 19th century and for part of that time in partnership with Calvin Graves, a pharmacist, including bills and receipts for office visits, medicines, and vague descriptions of treatments. One volume contains an alphabetical index of patient names for locating specific patient accounts. Also includes advertisements and postcards directed to physicians and/or pharmacists as well as a loose receipt.
Included is a 1767 petition ("Memorial") written by Henry McCulloch, a London merchant, colonial official and North Carolina land speculator, to King George III of England. The topic of the "Memorial" is the difficulties encountered in encouraging settlements in North Carolina after the Anglo-Cherokee War (congruent with the French and Indian War) and the need for relief from paying quit rents. Also included are a cover letter and a memorandum on the same subject with specific reference to George Augustus Selwyn.
Papers of Richard Yates (1977) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Yonkers, New York-born American novelist and short story writer, who chronicled the "age of anxiety" and was a creative writing educator at the University of Southern California, and other universities; consisting of bound uncorrected galley proofs of The Easter Parade: A Novel (1977).
Photograph album compiled by Ethel May Burt (ca. 1900) consisting primarily of photographic prints documenting Edenton, Chowan County, N.C., but also including views of various towns including Belhaven and Louisburg, N.C., and Claremont, Corbin Point, James River, and Portsmouth, Va., focusing on street scenes. Also includes also photos of families and friends; White and African American residents; the sitting rooms of Mrs. C. B. Elliott and Mrs. R. L. This collection includes a ledger book containing records (August 1882-December 1996) of the Red Banks Primitive Baptist Church located at the intersection of Fourteenth Street and Fire Tower Road in Greenville, North Carolina. The church was founded in 1758, but the present building was built in 1893. Included are minutes of the Conference meetings (1882-1996) which also mention when members join or leave or die, lists of some of the members with identifying information related to membership status, and loose papers. Also included are a treasurer's book (1964-2000) and a minutes book (1990-2000).

This collection includes a scrapbook of clippings (1906-1954) kept by Charlotte Pearl Murphy Wright, the wife of Robert Herring Wright who was the first president of East Carolina University (known then as East Carolina Teachers Training School and later East Carolina Teachers College) in Greenville, North Carolina. Also included are correspondence, announcements related to family affairs, photographs, and genealogy notes (also a few deeds, and bills of sale for enslaved persons) related to the Murphy, and Wright families of Sampson County, N.C., and the Cromartie and Alderman families.

Papers (1767-1976) of three generations of Beaufort County, NC, lawyers named William B. Rodman, including correspondence, letterpress books, speeches, financial records, legal files, farm records, clippings, printed material, newspapers, photographs, genealogical material and miscellaneous. Originally from New York, the Rodmans married into the prominent Blount family in Beaufort County, NC. The Rodmans also held local and state government offices and were judges.
