This collection consists of the records of the Long Leaf Opera Company which was founded in 1998 in Durham, N.C., by artistic director and playwright Dr. Wallace Randolph Umberger, Jr., and musical director and composer Mr. Benjamin Franklin Keaton and disbanded in 2012 due to the death of Dr. Umberger. Included are librettos and musical scores, scrapbooks, CDs, DVDs of performances, programs, photographs, promotional material, financial records, correspondence and clippings. A large portion (ca. 1950s-1997) of this collection also documents the pre-Long Leaf Opera Company careers of Umberger and Keaton. Included are manuscripts for plays, novels, musical comedies, and poetry written by Umberger, musical scores for an opera and muscial comedies written by Keaton, programs for productions they participated in, publications, photographs, and correspondence (some is from Paul Green).
One certificate of stock in the East Tennessee Medicine Company issued to M. H. P. Panhorst, two lecture invitations at the Tennessee Medical College issued to M. H. P. Panhorst, and three pages of correspondence regarding Panhorst written by Paul M. Fink.
Records (1761-1936, 1942-1981) including correspondence, legal and financial papers, estate papers, receipts, financial records, surveys, newspaper clippings, photographs, bills of lading, genealogy, stock certificates, corporation minutes, and land records.
Papers (1854-1857) including Day book for Nash County school teacher, notes, listing of student names, rules of school, dates of terms etc.
Papers (1945-1950) including correspondence, military pamphlets with description of army forces, commentaries, letter of sympathy.
Joseph K. Taussig Jr. Was born in Newport, Rhode Island in 1920. He was Served aboard the USS Nevada at the time of the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. The collection spans 1996 and 2005 and includes the booklet "The Day I Lost My Foot in the Pentagon and Other Literary Jewels" written by Taussig. The strength of the collection is the assorted published articles about Taussigs experiences in the Navy and Pentagon.

Original early 1900s photographs of Professor William H. Ragsdale's Boys' School aka Greenville Male Academy (handwritten inscription on the back of the image: The Old Academy, Greenville, N.C., A. B. Ellington), Pitt St. Bridge over Tar River (handwritten inscription on the back of the image: New Iron Bridge across Tar River, Greenville NC), and two interior images of the A. B. Ellington & Co. Store on Evans St. between 5th and 4th streets in Greenville, North Carolina.

Papers (1926-2003) covering the schooling and naval service of U. S. naval officer, USNA class of 1931, Captain James H. Brown, including correspondence, reports, publications, clippings, and photographs. Extensive material pertains to his service during World War II aboard the USS SHAW (1940-1942), USS ABNER READ (1942-1944), and the USS AMMEN (1944-1945), as well as his service before and after World War II.
Personal files (undated) of U.S. Naval Officers (USNA class of 1925) and former director of Naval history, including correspondence, notes, published articles and reviews, speeches, oral interview transcripts, clippings, an account of duty in the Asiatic Squadron, dedication programs, and miscellaneous.
Papers (1800-1961) of Hertford County, NC, family, consisting of correspondence, legal documents, financial papers, estate papers, account books, ledgers and time books, and miscellany, including records of Petty Shore Fishery and the family cotton business.
