This collection contains draft articles written by James Batten for In Restrospect, a history of the namesakes of the buildings on ECU's campus, as well as a published version of In Retrospect.

Papers (1927-1969, undated) including correspondence, memoirs, reports, flight records, flight log, speeches, etc. relating to the career of pioneer aviator and US Army Air Corps general during and after World War II.
The majority of the collection relates to Captain Leslie Avery Shaw's military service in the U.S. Army, especially during World War II when he served in the 11th AAA, 49th AAA Brigade, VII Corps, U.S. First Army in Europe. Included are maps and overlays concerning operations at Utah Beach at Normandy, orders, citations, reports, photographs, letters, postcards, military ribbons and insignia, and items from his personal military file. Additional items including many photographs document his personal life after the war. Photographs, printed material and memorabilia from the 1950s and early 1960s relate to the early years of his son Robert Avery Shaw's life in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
Papers (1863, 1946-1967) including correspondence, speeches, news releases, pamphlets, etc. relating to a local leader in the Ku Klux Klan in Eastern North Carolina.

Todd containing awards for his service at ECU, information about the establishment of the Richard and Clauda Todd endowment, postcards, and materials from his alma mater Millersville State Teachers College, and materials in relation to his publication Confederate Finance.
This collection contains records (1942-1945) pertaining to Captain Wallace L. Wright's service in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Included are his Flight Record and Log, a diary (1933-1944) he kept when he was with the 8th Squadron 3rd Attack Group and other documents such as Special Orders (1943) and Individual Flight Record documents.
