Diaries, journals and letters (1897-1906, 1986-1988) of Mormon missionaries in Eastern North Carolina (1897-1906), including William A. Adams, 1900-1902, James Godfrey, 1899-1901, William M. Hansen, 1897-1898, William R. Hobbs, 1901-1903, Lewis Johnson, 1903-1905, William A. Petty, 1905-1906, and James Taylor, 1900-1902, along with Memoirs, Notes, clippings, anecdotes and other materials compiled by Joel Grant Handcock, for use in the book Strengthened by the Storm.

This collection (1980s-2010s) contains material related to the life of Michael J. Hamer, an English professor at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, from 1986 through 2013, and a prolific songwriter, singer, and band leader who died in 2017. Included are notebooks containing his handwritten lyrics, poems, photographs, reel to reel tapes, clippings, and other material pertaining to his musical career.

Papers (1830 – 2010, undated) [Bulk: 1940-1970] documenting the life of Robert Lee Humber, Jr., who was born 30 May 1898 – and died 10 November 1970, in Greenville, North Carolina; after attending local schools he earned a BA from Wake Forest College, 1921; he then attended Oxford University in the United Kingdom as a Rhodes Scholar, 1921-1923; he then earned a MA from Harvard University in 1936; he moved to Paris, France, in 1926, where he married and served as an American Field Service fellow, 1926-1928, and subsequently earned a fortune as an international lawyer, art dealer, and businessman, 1930-1940, until the Fall of France, in 1940, when he, his wife, and their two sons, John and Marcel, fled the German invasion - his infant daughter Eileen died during their escape - and he returned to North Carolina, where he purchased a farm on Davis Island, established a legal career, and devoted himself to public service and to a wide range of philanthropic causes, as an educator, civic, cultural, political and religious leader; beginning in 1940, he became well-known nationally and internationally for establishing and leading the World Federation movement as a way to promote lasting world peace through international law; statewide for persuading the General Assembly and the Kress Foundation of New York to fund and establish the North Carolina Museum which opened in 1956; also as an art collector and patron of local and regional volunteer organizations; as a Democratic state senator from Pitt County, 1958-1964; as an educator who led the effort to create Pitt Technical Institute (later Pitt Community College); as a leader in the Southern Baptist denomination becoming a member of the Board of Trustees of Wake Forest College and other Baptist institutions; and as an attorney and business leader and developer; additionally, the collection includes historical files documenting the history of the World Federation in the United States, compiled by his son, John Leslie Humber.

Photocopies of papers (1942-1946) of Vice Admiral Robert W. Hayler mainly relating to when he commanded the USS HONOLULU (1942-1944) during World War II including correspondence, diaries, citations, awards, photographs, and a summary of important events.

Collection (1860-1862) including diary, news reports, notes on troop movements, personal experiences relating to friend.

This collection contains the written works of Dr. Henry Merritt Stenhouse, a U.S. Naval doctor. The written works detail his life as a naval doctor while in China and Japan (1918) and thoughts towards the Russian Revolution, the Chinese revolution, and their culture. It also gives detailed accounts of some illnesses, diseases, and injuries treated by Dr. Henry Stenhouse as well as his life as a medical student at the University of Colorado.

This collection consists of family records, family records digitized from a bible, and two copies (printouts) of an image taken in the mid-1940s of Joyner and Rouse family members on the front of the Rouse-Joyner House in La Grange, N.C.

Frank H. Price, Jr., a graduate in the USNA Class of 1941, had a naval career including service in World War II through postwar work with developing conventional warheads for Navy guided missiles and commanding several ships and a Destroyer Division, culminating in promotion to vice admiral in 1972 and retirement in 1975. His papers cover his entire naval career and include correspondence, orders, a memoir, clippings, photographs, programs, publications and a photograph album.

Collection (1945-circa 1980s, undated) of clippings, photographs, Christmas cards, World War II ration books, relating to the Parker family, "Pitch a Boogie Woogie" a film with an all-black cast, the Corner Stone Baptist Church, and Mt. Calvary Free Will Baptist Church of Greenville, North Carolina.

Papers of Paul Green (1985) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Lillington, North Carolina-born American novelist and playwright whose works focus on North Carolina folklore and themes, consisting of incomplete sample proof pages of the first few pages of his dictionary of Cape Fear language and slang, entitled Cape Fear Valley People: A – B, covers, p. 1,4-6, by Paul Green; edited by Rhoda H. Wynn (1985) and transmittal note (16 March 1985) from Heritage Printers, Inc., Charlotte, NC, relating to possible publication; the text later appears in Paul Green's Wordbook: An Alphabet of Reminiscence, by Paul Green; edited by Rhoda H. Wynn; Foreword by John M. Ehle (Boone: Appalachian Consortium Press; Chapel Hill, N.C.: Paul Green Foundation, 1990) 2 vols.

Papers include Vauter's registration as an apprentice pharmacist, a magazine article about pharmacies of the past, and booklets about first aid, dosage amounts, and emergencies in jungle, desert, or arctic.

The collection has papers, photographs, personal items, patient records, and oral history of Milton D. Quigless, along with drafts and related materials to his autobiography, Looking Back: The Way It Was.

This collection contains a scrapbook, newspaper clippings, correspondence, and awards from alumnus Paul Jones that document his athletic and military careers during the 1950s.
