A collection of Lt. Richard Norman Tetlie's military service records (1943-1946) and the official records of the USS New York's lengthy service in the U.S. Navy (1914-1948). As an officer during World War II, Lt. Tetlie trained recruits at the Ship-to-Shore Division of the Fort Emory Detachment, Landing Craft School, Coronado, CA, in the fundamentals of the amphibious ship-to-shore maneuver. He then served as the USS New York's public relations officer and official historian (1946). As a result this collection contains documents, photographs, newsletters, and newspaper clippings from the USS New York during her service.

Membership Records (1898-1912) from The Improved Order of Red Men (I.O.R.M), the "Occoneechee Tribe" No. 16; a historically white fraternity. In 1834 the Improved Order of the Red Men was established exclusively for white men. The Membership Record of "Occoneeche Tribe" No. 16 Improved Order of the Red Men (1898-1912) is not associated to the Occaneechi Nation or any other Indigenous Nation. Local chapter No. 16 was headquarterd in Raleigh, North Carolina and would hold meetings there, as well as in New Bern, North Carolina. The "all-white clause" was not removed until the 1970's allowing women and people of color to join. The record book includes names, dates, ranking, session locations, and deaths of members.

Collection (1862-1994) containing correspondence, service records, photographic prints, newspapers, newsletters and clippings, scrapbook, publications, pamphlets and other miscellaneous papers relating to the American Civil War, the Spanish American War, World War I and World War II; also relating to the U.S. Navy, its ships, stations, and personnel; donated by various individuals to the U. S. Naval Memorial Foundation and transferred to its collection at various times; arranged in original order.

This collection contains annual reports, administrative documents such as unit codes, printed materials, event programs, and student work from the School of Social Work.

Papers (ca. 1942-1945) pertaining primarily to the 7th amphibious Force, Beach Party #5, in the Central Pacific during World War II, including personnel and operations file, terrain study handbooks, histories of the 7th amphibious Force, clippings, photographs, certificates and miscellany.

Papers (1942-1997) of U.S. naval officer, who rose to the rank of rear admiral commanding the Navy's Recruiting Command and the Naval Inshore Warfare Forces, Atlantic Fleet, 1943-1973; East Carolina University graduate, (1943); businessman, 1973-1977; and head of North Carolina State Ports Authority (1979-1985), including documents, photographic prints and negatives, correspondence, certificates, clippings, printed forms, and printed materials.

This collection holds menhaden fishing ledgers from 1949 to 1962 with information on how much an individual was paid each pay period plus the amount of taxes withheld, the individual's race, the number of dependents, and other information. These ledgers cover boats and workers who were part of the Beaufort By-Products Co., Inc., fleet of Menhaden fishing boats based out of Beaufort, North Carolina.

The U.S. Navy Memorial Foundation Collection: Lee D. Teal Papers contains materials documenting service aboard two U.S. Navy escort carriers during World War II: the USS Kitkun Bay (CVE-71) and the USS Hollandia (CVE-97). Items include a narrative history of the Kitkun Bay with an accompanying photograph of Lee D. Teal (1943–1945) and a program from a Divine Worship Service held aboard the Hollandia in 1944.
