The Vertical File contains brochures, pamphlets, newsletters, and other printed ephemeral material pertaining to North Carolina people, organizations, places, history, and events. Files on a county, for example, typically include brochures / maps pertaining to natural or historic sites, cultural events, and local businesses.
Collection (1820-1912) including correspondence, receipts, accounts, notes, etc. relating to three brothers who settled in Eastern North Carolina.
Collection (1740-1985) including correspondence, legal and financial papers, estates papers, and volumes concerning several eastern North Carolina families.
On January 14, 2009, Dale Sauter (Grant Project Director) and Chris Oakley (Grant Historian) interviewed David J. Whichard II and Stuart Savage. Both Whichard and Savage have been at the Daily Reflector for most of their lives. Whichard's grandfather and his grandfather's brother founded the newspaper in the late 1800s. Savage retired in March 2009 with fifty years at the newspaper. They have both been involved in the newspaper in many capacities, including Whichard as one time publisher, and Savage as photographer. What makes this interview so special are the reflections of both Whichard and Savage about their experiences at the newspaper and in the Greenville area. Obviously, many changes have occurred since the start of the careers and the present day. These changes include both the physical processes, as well as the whole nature of the newspaper business. During this time there have also been dramatic and sweeping social transformations in Greenville that also mirror changes that occurred on a state and national level. Collection (1852-2014) includes correspondence, newspaper clippings, printed materials, and other items compiled by retired East Carolina University English professor emeritus Dr. Ralph Hardee Rives (1930-2016) relating primarily to the Hardee - Rives and related families of North Carolina and the United Kingdom, the history of Eastern North Carolina (especially Halifax County and the town of Enfield), the United Methodist Church in Eastern North Carolina, state and local and national politics, and his charitable and philanthropic interests. The earliest original documents cover the period from 1852 through the Civil War and World War I.
Photograph Album and other files (ca. 1950 - 2004) relating to historic houses in Chowan, Perquimans, Bertie, Gates, and Washington counties in the Albemarle region of North Carolina, including photographic prints, postcard, floor plan sketches, maps, and correspondence.

The Rich Elkins Papers (1994-2002) is a collection of publications and clippings on the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender communities in North Carolina, South Carolina, and New York with some of the materials from the LGBT community in Greenville, N.C. located in Eastern North Carolina. Richard "Rich" Elkins has been active in the Eastern N.C. LGBT community for many years and these materials reflect his involvement.
This collection includes a Murray Chair, two postcards, and a Carolina General Hospital, Inc. diploma.
