Navy B-1 Band, the first All-African American band to serve in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Material includes historical and biographical sketches of the band and ites members, and photographs of the band, rosters, the music and lyrics, interviews, and documentation of race relations in North Carolina, the United States, and the United States military during the 20th century.

Clements documenting his experience with the 17th U.S. Aero Squadron, American Expeditionary Forces, during training in the U.S. and England, and service in France during World War I. Included are a diary, and a microfilm copy of his World War I photograph album.

Letters (August 1917-August 13, 1919) written by Mary and Gordon Robertson of Africa Inland Mission while they were working in the Belgian Congo. They described their work providing education and religious training, how World War I was affecting the area, indigenous customs, and the practice of cannibalism which was still in existence in some villages.

This collection (1910-1934, 1964) contains correspondence, photographs, postcards, official documents, two diaries/journals, and publications related to the World War I service of a nurse trained at Camp McClellan in Alabama and served in France. Also documented is her post-World War I service in Serbia with the Serbian Relief Committee of America.

The Herman H. Duncan Collection consists of seven photographic prints (1921–1922, undated) depicting Greenville High School athletic teams and unidentified baseball teams in eastern North Carolina. Included are group portraits of the football, basketball, track and field, and baseball teams from Greenville High School, as well as images of unidentified teams, one possibly from New Bern, North Carolina. The photographs document early 20th-century high school athletics and local sports culture in Pitt County and surrounding areas.
