Sarah Bunn Collection

This collection consists of the family records, photographs, and genealogy records collected by Sarah Westray Bunn of Elizabeth City, North Carolina. She was an East Carolina Teachers' College 1936 graduate and served in the Army Nurse Corps from 1941 to 1966. Included are genealogy notes concerning the Lewis, Suggs, Speight, Powell, Harrison, and Exum families of Eastern N.C.; late 19th century and 20th Century photographs; correspondence (1905-1998); an 1847 book of children's poetry; clippings; genealogy charts; and a tombstone rubbing.

Crawford and Riddick Family Papers

The bulk of this donation is photographs relating to the Hertford County, North Carolina, Crawford and Riddick family ancestors of William Crawford Woods. He was the son of Louise Russell Crawford and Arthur R. Woods, Jr. and the grandson of Kate Wallace Riddick and Louis Russell Crawford. The Wallace side of the family is from Norfolk County, Virginia. Additionally, there are personal items, including correspondence, scrapbooks, newspaper clippings, school notes, publications, and some legal records. The items included date back to the late 1800s up through the mid-1900s.

Hugh A. Clark Family Records

This collection contains correspondence, financial, and legal records (ca. 1830s-1870s, especially 1850s-1860s) related to Bladen County, North Carolina. Most of material is addressed to William Hendon White, who was Hugh A. Clark's great grandfather. W. H. White was sheriff of Bladen County during the early Reconstruction years (definitely 1866-1867 and perhaps longer) and there are communications with the 2nd Military District for this period. A lot of the correspondence is between W. H. White and his brother George Montgomery White (1828-1860) during the early 1850s while George was working on his 1853 A. B. degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
