Collection (ca. 1899-2011, undated) documenting the history of Pepsi-Cola in New Bern, N.C.; the involvement of the Minges family in the soft drink business, 1923-1992, in Greenville, Tarboro, and Rocky Mount, N.C.; and the Minges Bottling Group, Inc., of Ayden, N.C. Materials include clippings, correspondence, contracts and financial records, advertising materials, photographic prints and compact discs, printing plates, printed materials, trademark registration certificates, video recordings, ephemera,etc. Digital files document the history of the Minges family of Catawba and Pitt Counties, North Carolina, and the history of the Minges Bottling Group.

This is a 1714 map by Pieter Vander Aa (of Leiden, Netherlands) illustrating Ponce De Leon's travels and discoveries in North and South Carolina. The map is based on the earlier Hondius-Mercator map of the area among others. 12" x 9", hand-colored copper plate engraving with decorative board. Decorative board depcits European with spears, guns, swords and sheilds killing Indigenous people holding spears, arrows and shields. Title is in Dutch, text in French and Latin. Watermak is a strasburg Lilly with a crown over countermarks 4 w qA.

Tison Family Records

This collection consists of a book that has late 1700s Tison family birth, marriage, and death dates on the fly leafs and on the margins of pages. The book is titled, An Alarm to Unconverted Sinners in a Serious Treatise and was written by Joseph Alleine, late Minister of the Gospel at Taunton in Somersetshire [England], in 1672. This edition is the 1767 Boston, N.E. [New England] printing. On page 224 of the book is written, "Jonathan Tison his book baught [sic] January the 18 day 1775. The price 5S." The book is probably from the Farmville, North Carolina, area.

Also included are Le-Nea, the first yearbook (1938) for Contentnea High School, Graingers, Lenoir County, North Carolina, autograph books, and a ledger (1888-1892) of Wilbar General Store, Greenville, Pitt County, North Carolina. The Kayaitchess (1924) Vol. 1, published by the students of Kinston High School, Kinston, North Carolina, and the Connecting Link Commencement Issue 1926, published every other week by students of Kinston City Schools under the Supervision of Committee of Teachers have been transferred to the North Carolina Collection and have been catalogued.

Harold Stacey Burdick Collection

This collection contains the life history of Lt. Commander Harold Stacey Burdick, who served in the Border War (1910s) and the Tampico Affair (1914), and World War I. It contains letters that he sent to his mother and father and a log journal detailing his accounts while on the USS Jouett. There are also news clippings and pictures of/about Harold Burdick as well as Annapolis and Naval ships like the USS Rhode Island. The collection also contains correspondence between his father, Daniel P. Burdick, and various associations and societies like Brown University, Columbia University and the U.S. Navy.

Papers (1938–1993 [Bulk: 1938–1953]), of U.S. Naval Reserve officer and destroyer escort commander, including official files and service records, and a History of USS SC-631; postwar correspondence relating to the Destroyer Escort Commanders Organization (DECO); a History of the USS Kendall C. Campbell (DE-443), by Cdr. Richard E. Warner; a scrapbook, compiled by Cdr. Jack Carr Papers

This collection contains 539 letters (1943-1945) written by Jack Ladd Carr (1924-2010) to his family in Pennsylvania while he was stationed in Fort Jackson (South Carolina) for basic training, in Camp San Luis Obispo and Camp Pendleton in California, and the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Carr joined the U.S. Army in March 1943 and returned to the United States in December of 1945. He was involved in attacks on Anguar Island and took part in Operation Forager.
