This collection contains materials about the W. Keats Sparrow Writing Award and Rhem-Schwarzmann Award given by Academic Library Services, budget reports, annual paraprofessional conference, changes to library operations in response to COVID-19, division newsletters, committee meeting minutes, publications, and photographs. Materials relate to both J. Y. Joyner Library and the Music Library. There are also unprocessed materials in this collection.

This award is for projects "that advance excellence and promote equity by strengthening capacity, expanding access, and community engagement in North Carolina's libraries."
The master of library science (MLS) graduate degree program is the largest producer of school-library media-coordinator graduates in the state and is the largest program in the College of Education at ECU. The Maury York Papers are comprised of his administrive files, committee records, and records about grant projects, library director searches, and library projects including the First in the Family Cenntennial Oral History Project, the history fiction project, and the Eastern North Carolina Literary Homecoming.
