In this oral history interview, Charles Coble discusses his career at East Carolina University, including as Dean of the College of Education, and at the UNC System Office.


Biographical/historical information

Charles Coble was born in Albemarle, North Carolina on November 19, 1941. He began working at East Carolina University as an assistant professor in Science Education in 1972. From 1984 to 1996 he served as the Dean of the College of Education. He then became the Vice President for University-School Programs Division of the University of North Carolina System. During that time he was responsible for the development of University-School Teacher Education Partnerships and the UNC Center for School Leadership Developement.


Scope and arrangement

In this oral history interview, Charles Coble discusses his career at East Carolina University, including as an Assistant Professor of Science Education and later Dean of the College of Education, as well as the University of North Carolina System Office. Coble also discusses the history of the College of Education at ECU, as well as the institution's role in developing the eventual University School Teacher Education Partnerships program.
