Christine Shea joined the College of Education at East Carolina University in 1998 and taught there until her death on March 25, 2015. She previously taught at Hampshire College, the University of Illinois, West Virginia University and Georgia Southern University and worked as a preschool educator with the Peace Corps in Tunisia. Her research interests focused on educational diversity, North Carolina educational policy and programs, and historical models of remedial and preventive mental health in American public schools.
