Biographical/historical information

Robert S. Fulghum was born in 1929 and attended Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia. He later enrolled at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute, earning a Master of Science and Ph.D. in Bacteriology. In 1972, he joined the faculty of the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, serving as active chair from 1974-1976. Upon his retirement in 1996, he was appointed Emeritus status.
