Collection primarily contains correspondence related to the administration of East Carolina University under chancellors Leo Jenkins, Thomas Brewer, and John Howell.
Born in Pinehurst, North Carolina, Charles R. (Dick) Blake was a graduate of East Carolina University, where he played basketball and served in Detachment 600 of the Air Force ROTC. After a long career in the US Air Force, Blake was chosen by Leo Jenkins to return to East Carolina as Assistant to the Chancellor in 1974. Blake served two other chancellors, Thomas Brewer and John Howell, before leaving the university. Blake passed away in 2003 at the age of 72.

Most correspondence related to specific events. There are also two folders of materials about a promotional outreach meeting held in conjunction with the Board of Governors in 1984.
