Frances Cain papers contain materials related to her involvement with the ECU School of Music and her participation in state-wide tennis tournaments.
Frances Cain attended East Carolina College between 1955 and 1959. She graduated in 1959 with a Bachelors degree in music in piano and organ performance. She was the first woman to obtain a Bachelors in Music degree at East Carolina College. She married Bill Cain, an East Carolina football player and later Athletic Director at ECU. In 2013, she received the ECU School of Music Distinguished Alumnus Award. She serves as the organist for St. James United Methodist Church, a position she has held since 1968.
This collection contains awards and certificates, correspondence, event programs, newspaper clippings, and photos for Frances Cain's career in music and participation in North Carolina tennis tournaments. The collection also includes certificates for her involvement with the Methodist Church.
