This collection contains photographs of Naomi Blanchard as a student at East Carolina Teachers College, a photograph of her induction into the ECU Educator's Hall of Fame, and a 1947 ECTC Commencement program.
Naomi Blanchard Bagley Hofler was born in Gates County, North Carolina on November 28, 1925. She was the youngest of seven children and grew up in a farmer family. She and her older sister Ruth began college together at East Carolina Teachers College in 1944. The following year only Naomi returned for financial concerns. While a student at ECTC, Naomi worked in the school cafeteria, lived in both Jarvis and Cotten dormitories, and graduated with honors. After graduation, she married R.E. Bagley, moved back to Gates County, and began teaching business education. She taught for thirty years, interrupting her career to have six children. After her husband died, she remarried Willard Hofler. She was inducted into the East Carolina Teacher's Hall of Fame. She died May 28, 2019 at the age of 93.
