This collection contains administrative records, committee minutes and records, materials pertaining to events and programs sponsored by the Student Union, and records that pertain to the construction and renovation of Mendenhall Student Center and Wright Auditorium.
The East Carolina University Student Union is part of the Division of Student Affairs and is responsible for planning and overseeing recreation and entertainment for the campus community. Over the years, the Student Union has been responsible for organizing homecoming festivities, various campus performances, as well as film events and lectures on a variety of topics. The Student Union was originally housed in the Wright Building from 1923 until 1974, at which time it moved into the newly built Mendenhall Student Center. The Student Union remained in the Mendenahll Student Center until the completion of the new Main Campus Student Center.
This collection contains the administrative records for the East Carolina University Student Union. Records included in this collection are minutes from various committees and boards, including the Student Union Board of Directors, the S. Rudolph Alexander Performing Arts Series, and the Homecoming Committee, annual reports, financial reports, and promotional materials that relate to various campus programs and events sponsored by the Student Union. The collection also contains records that pertain to the physical Mendenhall Student Center and its staff, as well as Wright Auditorium.
