Oral history interviews of James "Jimmy" Earl Brake and Robert "Bob" Luther Brake (1938-). Included are transcriptions and three maps which note places discussed in the interview. Interviews were recorded by Alston Cobourn, neice of interviewees.
Robert Luther Brake, Sr., known as Bob Brake, is the second oldest of six children born to Robert Earl Brake and Margaret Melissa Burges Brake. He was born on December 7, 1938 in the house where he was raised on Highway 43 North in the West Edgecombe community, Edgecombe County, North Carolina. After graduating twelfth grade at the West Edgecombe School, Bob served almost four years in the Navy, before returning to Edgecombe County. He then married Janice Everett Brake, had two childen, and farmed for over forty years.
