Mrs. Savage, a resident of Greenville, N.C., was born in Robeson County, N.C. Her father was a prominent physician practicing in the town of Rowland. In 1916 she enrolled at East Carolina Teachers Training School. After graduating in 1918 she remained in Greenville to teach in the public schools. At the time of her retirement, Mrs. Savage had taught in public and private schools for fifty four years.
The interview concentrates on Mrs. Savage's childhood in Rowland, her father's medical practice, his hobby of raising fighting cocks, and her early recollections of Greenville.
