Set of medical records belonging to Helen Peel.
Helen K. Peel was born on 1916 August 10 to Jesse Keel (1878-1950) and Ida Augusta Keel (1897-1973) in Everetts, North Carolina. She graduated from high school in 1933 and graduated from Louisburg College in 1935. In 1938 she married J. Woolard Peel, and they had a son, Dr. Jesse R. Peel, who is an Atlanta, Georgia psychiatrist and leading activist in the LGBTQ+ community. Helen was an active member of Everetts Baptist Church and within the local community. She passed away on 2005 June 5.
Helen K. Peel's medical records kept by Walter Ward, M.D at the Ward Clinic in Robersonville, North Carolina. The records date from April 1977 through December 1980 and show how a general practitioner kept records at the time.
