Biographical/historical information
Dr. Charles Amos Burritt was born in Canton, Illinois on 1872 October 9 to Dr. William Harvey Burritt and Julia Elizabeth (Reed) Burritt. He attended the University of Michigan and graduated with a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1895. In July 1895 he opened a practice at 319 South St. Clair Avenue in Toledo Ohio. He worked as an obstetrician for most of his career.
Dr. Burritt served as a surgeon in the Naval Brigade of the Ohio National Guard and was commissioned on 1899 December 14. He also served as a captain in the army medical corps in World War I. He was a member of The Ohio State Medical Society and its auxiliary chapter, the Northwestern Ohio Medical Association. On 1904 November 1, he married Edith Eleanor Emrick of Wooster, Ohio. Burritt still practiced medicine in Toledo until 1948 when he retired at the age of 76. Dr. Burritt died on 1963 March 31.
