Biographical/historical information

Dr. Julian Marion Warren was born on 1927 February 26 in Spring Hope, North Carolina to George W. Warren, Sr. and Lou Anna Hathaway Warren. He graduated from Spring Hope High School in 1944 and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Duke University in 1949. After a brief career as a Mechanical Engineer, Dr. Warren decided to pursue a degree in medicine. He attended the University of Virginia Medical School from 1952 until 1956 when he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree. Dr. Warren completed his residency at Watts Hospital in Durham in 1957 and moved back to Nash County shortly after. In late 1957, he formed the Spring Hope Clinic with Dr. Otis M. Lowry and they practiced together for nearly 60 years. Dr. Warren provided general and family medicine for Nash County residents and was one of the founding physicians of Nash General Hospital. He married Maxine Bissette Warren and they had three sons, Bradley Bissett Warren, David Marion Warren, and Scott Wood Warren. Dr. Warren died on 2016 October 5.


Scope and arrangement

The Dr. Julian M. Warren papers include Dr. Warren's high school diploma, his medical school diploma from the University of Virginia, his medical licenses for Virginia and North Carolina, and an image of his University of Virginia medical school graduating class.
