Carolyn Grace Warren was born in North Carolina in 1940. She attended Park View Hospital Training School for Nurses in Rocky Mount, North Carolina from 1958 to 1961 and graduated with a degree in surgical, medical, and obstetrical Nursing. On 1963 August 1, she became a certified Registered Nurse. After receiving her R.N. certification, Warren worked at Wake Med Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina for just over a year. She spent the bulk of her career (thirty-two years) as a nurse at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina, serving as a pediatrics nurse for twenty-four years, a head nurse for seven-to-eight years, and a patient relations nurse for 10 years. She then worked at Home Health in Wilson, North Carolina for ten years. Carolyn Grace Warren currently resides in Kenly, North Carolina.
The Carolyn Grace Warren Papers include photographs, prints, books, case studies, and other manuscript materials. Of special interest is a Student's Handbook published by Park View Hospital that details house rules, hospital regulations, social privileges, uniform regulations, and more. Also included is A Handbook and Charting Manual for Student Nurses, Anatomy and Physiology Laboratory Manual, and three case studies Carolyn Grace Warren conducted at the hospital during her training. The collection also contains Warren's diploma in nursing from Park View Hospital Training School for Nurses, photographs of her graduation class, and an invitation to her capping ceremony.
